Self Catering in Scotland

If self catering in Scotland is on your bucket list, then Croft House Bracorina or the Old Schoolhouse are the cottages for you.  Located on the west coast of the Scottish Highlands both properties are in the ideal spot to get away and experience the best of Scottish scenery.  The homes are lovingly furnished to a high standard throughout and feature uninterrupted views across Loch Morar.

Croft House Bracorina is a 3 bedroom property that sleeps up to seven guests.

The Old School House is a 1 bedroom property with mezzanine bedroom that sleeps up to 4 guests.

Nestled away in a secluded spot on the beautiful shores of Loch Morar, both cottages boast peace and tranquility.  Only a short drive to local facilities in the fishing town of Mallaig they are the ideal place to switch off and relax.

Bracorina Self Catering

In 2017 Alistair and Emma purchased Croft House Bracorina.  At the time it was just a shell of a property with great potential to be  restored to its traditional purpose - to be a croft dwelling.  It took two years for the family to complete the project and welcome its first guests to Croft House Bracorina.  The house is a warm and  comfortable well equipped self catering property on the west coast of Scotland.

A croft is a traditional term for a smallholding with arable land for crops and animals.  Croft House Bracorina is situated on a working croft with livestock, mainly sheep and chickens, and cows from the neighbouring croft can often be found meandering on the road.  It is this reason that Alistair and Emma cannot accept family pets at Croft House Bracorina.

In 2020 Alistair and Emma purchased the Old Schoolhouse next door to Croft House Bracorina.  The Old Schoolhouse offers a warm and comfortable property with a touch of elegance.  The house is furnished with beautiful antique furniture and paintings of the west coast of Scotland.

"The croft house is a gem of a place. Quiet location, beautiful views and a very tastefully decorated, comfortable, warm home."

"Big skies, big mountains, big water - just stunning. You're at the end of a country track so no passing traffic. Just blissful peace and quiet. Set off by foot in any direction from your front door and you will find yourself on the most incredible walks. From stunning secluded beaches. To hidden lochs up in the mountains. Simply incredible."

"A truly stunning location on the edge of Loch Morar. It was a joy to wake up to the view everyday and to immerse ourselves in the beauty of this corner of the Highlands. The cottage is spotlessly clean and homely. It provided a wonderfully cosy base to retreat to in the evenings. Emma and Alistair were perfect hosts. A very special place which we hope to return to one day."

Joanna, July 2020

"Emma and Alastair made us feel very welcome in the property. The photographs on the website don't do the location or the property justice. The views are breathtaking and the property is finished to a very high standard with all modern conveniences provided."
